Tarpon City

Details
15 December 2022

TarponCity_20090712_039_kleinTarpon City is, as the name implies, a dive location where you can expect to see Tarpons. As far as I know there is no other dive site than this one in Curaçao where it is almost certain that you will see at least a few Tarpons during your dive. But on occasion the Tarpons will be everywhere around you as the video of a dive at July 12, 2009 shows.

For guided dives at this location contact Trunkdivers.

The Car Pile at Marie Pampun

Details
15 December 2022

The small bay at Marie Pampun is the entrance to two kind of dives. The first one is a rather shallow one along the reef. The other one is a deep dive to the car pile. In an effort to create an artificial reef a number of car wrecks are dumped here. There is also a lot of construction material, a small boat and a large pontoon. The deepest wrecks are beyond 40 meters so watch your no-decompression dive limits.

Tunnel of Doom

Details
15 December 2022

On the North shore of Curaçao there is a dive site called the Tunnel of Doom. It is a partially collapsed cave. This event created an entrance into the cave on the land side. From land easily accessible if you know where this dive site is, but that doesn't mean that it is easy to dive here. You need very calm sea conditions. This happens mainly during the hurricane season.

Airplane wreck at Playa Kalki

Details
15 December 2022

On October 26, 2008, we, a number of Trunkdivers, decided to try to reach the plane wreck of the Fokker Fairchild F27 at Playa Kalki. The wreck is located between Playa Kalki and Playa Gepi. You can see the red buoy from the beach at Playa Kalki but the wreck is normally out of reach from shore. Most of the time the current is Eastward which means that you swim against the current on your way back. So we decided to use rental underwater scooters.
