Siberie - Seru Dakue
- Details
On Thursday, January 17, 2013 we visited the plateau behind plantation house Siberie. Geologically the oldest part of the island, the part which first surfaced. It is a limestone plateau with still quite old vegetation. On Werbata nothing special is visible in this area, so this time it is mainly a nature walk. With special guest Bert Kienjet, who, inspired by the nature of Curacao, created a number of etchings; each of the sleuths have received a print as a gift (see picture)..
Koraal Tabak
- Details
The area around the St. Joris Bay is known as a former residence of Indians. Traces of which are found all around the bay. Also in the hills north of the bay there are clear indications of the residence of the Indians. In addition there is a ruin of an observation post from the Second World War. This all makes a visit to this area very worthwhile.
The sleuths gathered around quarter past eight at the entrance of Koraal Tabak at St Catherina. From there we went by car to the Ser'i Kibra Pika.
Labadera - Koraal Specht
- Details
In the area of Koraalspecht the part adjacent to Bottelier is indicated under the name Labadera. According to Joubert (Papiamentu dictionnary), this word has two meanings: laundress and ford. Since this is an indication of an area, the second meaning is the most obvious, though we found some artifacts, which can also indicate the first meaning.
On the map of Werbata (1909) there are two houses indicated in this area, two water holes and an old road to the saliña of Jan Thiel. We decide to investigate.
