This photo series was created in response to the appearance of an old photo of the shop of Ackerman NV in the Breedestraat in Otrobanda. Because I thought the building was still there, I took a lot of pictures in the Breedestraat and posted these in the Facebook group "You know you have lived in Curacao if ... '. This has led to many responses, which showed what the function was or who the occupants were of these buildings in the past. It alos appeared that the building of the former Ackerman shop no longer exists. There is a new property built on that spot, that new building is still in the possession of the Ackerman family.

The whole green building was owned by the deceased grandfather of Ada Crown. Above her Aunt Lucilla Crown-Lauffer lived and underneath the balcony was a shop of Kaluf Trading. Right was the shop of Foto Kroon. An aunt of Ada Crown has inherited the property and she sold it to the father of Ribeiro. The yellow building was a bar / liquor store. Today lottery tickets are sold there

The second building from the left is currently a protected monument, built in 1853. In the early fifties the "Baratillo Store (Shon 'Chacha' Henriquez) was here; upstairs the 2 sisters Henriquez lived.
